Grinding versus digging out
Digging a stump out means excavating the root plate, which leaves a large hole and often damages paths, fences and irrigation nearby. Chemicals take months and do not always work. A grinder chews the stump into fine chips in place, usually in under an hour, with very little disturbance to the surrounding ground.
How deep do we go?
For lawn or garden beds we typically grind to around 200 to 300 mm below the surface. If you are planning to pave, build or plant another tree in the same spot, tell us and we will go deeper and chase out major surface roots.
Access and clean-up
Our grinders fit through standard side gates. We screen the area to stop chips flying, then either rake the grindings back into the hole, leave them as mulch or take them away and backfill with soil.
